MODERN RACING

Modern racing is held on our main SIC Surface” track.  It is fast, smooth, flowy racing and your car is nice and clean after race day is done. "Modern" means you can run the latest and greatest cars released from RC manufacturers. The main brands are - Team Associated, Xray, Schumacher, TLR, Kyosho, Sworkz, and Mugen.

You are welcome to also run older cars if you have them, however if you go too far back in age, they are more likely to be better suited racing on our dirt track.

If you are new to the hobby and not a Junior (under 16), we highly recommend 2wd Stock as the best class to start.

In terms of set up advice, we have an army of helpful members who will help you on race days or practice sessions, but generally you are after a med-high traction set up. The track is open to the public (unless a working bee is announced via Facebook), so there is the opportunity to get track time and practice, which is highly recommended prior to race day.

Our calendar lists the dates we are racing, which are usually held on Sunday's. Race brief is at 7.45am with racing kicking off 8am sharp and finishing around 3.30pm. You ideally need to nominate online a few days prior. Information about race days is posted on our Chargers RC Pit Lane Facebook page the week leading up to race day. You will need an RC4 Mylaps transponder, which can be purchased through any of our club sponsors, in order for your laps to be counted.

Food and drinks are available at the track. EFTPOS only (no cash)

The classes and rules for modern racing are aligned with RCRA regulations.  On some race days we will run substitute classes to mix things up a bit. We will advertise any changes on our Chargers Pit Lane Facebook page.

In general, the classes and rules to be aware of are as follows.

Note: All classes run 2S LiPo batteries with Brushless ESC and Motors

All Classes have a technical specification ruleset, including car size and weight limits, legal motors and batteries, charging limits, tyre hole punching etc. Please go to RCRA’s technical specification page for detailed information pay particular attention to Section 9.

Whilst we don’t generally police all these rules on a club day, it is expected to adhere to the rules.  Cars identified as racing outside of the rules, may be disqualified from the race (at the discretion of race control).  During sanctioned events these rules are strictly enforced and it is the race entrant’s responsibility to know them or risk being disqualified.

It is HIGHLY RECONMENED your car is set up to be compliant with all RCRA rules, even on a club day, so you get used to the set up and feel of your "legal" car, which will help with your results at a sanctioned event and also prevent scrutineering issues on the day.

Transponders

Our LiveTime scoring system will only identify MyLaps RC4 generation transponders. AMB, AMBrc and non-MyLaps branded transponders (e.g. MRT) are not supported at our track.
